Creative Debate: Parents Magazine Redesign

Parents Magazine grew up a little with their new redesign, which debuted with the February 2012 issue. Instead of cutesy close-ups of babies and super bright, kid-friendly colors, readers are now greeted with cozy lifestyle shots and sophisticated hues — colors you could actually wear or paint on a wall in your house. I like the new look. It’s a lot cleaner and much more modern. Looks a lot prettier sitting on a coffee table (especially next to Real Simple). The lifestyle images are nice, conveying those little “ohh, how sweet” moments that touch a parent’s heart. But I’m not too sure that I’m a fan of the new organization of articles. Before, sections were divided so moms could quickly find content relevant to their child’s age. Now, sections are organized by themes, such as fun, hot topics, time for mom, etc. The age-specific info is still there but it’s a much smaller, 10-page section. Hmmm… What do you think? Do tell.
