i heart converse

August 13, 2011

If I could pick any brand to work on it would be Converse. I love the shoes, I think the brand transcends generations and multiple genres of music (which I also love) and

I love the most recent Converse “motto”.

“The brand enters its second century by honoring its heritage of seeing things a little differently, loving people who want to change the world for the better, and basically celebrating the spirit of rebellion and originality in basketball, Rock & Roll and anywhere else you find it.

And there you have it — for now… The best stories are the ones that don’t end — the ones you just keep adding to and adding to — all the while marveling at the creative, disruptive, optimistic, courageous ways things evolve from being what they were, to what they are, to what they will become.”

Fun Project

Actually, I think this one is a challenge. I challenge you to take pictures of, or take note of the first 30 logos you see in 30 minutes. Then post the photos or list here. I think it’ll be neat to see if any logos are repeated and if they are which ones!

I Love Melissa and Doug

When our new ECD asked our Creative Team what brands we would die to work on, I quickly ran down a mental list of my favorite brands. I could think of many that make everyday appearances in my life. Several that frequent my shopping list. But which ones did I REALLY love? Which ones did I get excited about? Which ones gave me warm fuzzies?

Once I asked myself those questions, I had a definite answer. I love, love, love, love, love Melissa and Doug, even though I don’t own a single one of their products — yet. Our little biscuit is just learning how to open and close her hands, but I can’t wait for the day when she’s old enough to get those little hands on some Melissa and Doug fun. Check it out:

They don’t just make play food. They make wood play food that’s detailed down to the seeds that kids can slice apart and put back together.

They don’t just make stuffed animals. They make organtuans and other exotic animals that are as big as your kid.

They don’t just make toy clocks or sorting blocks. They find a way to make both.

And they don’t just make blocks. They make architectural blocks, complete with columns.

I just love the quality, the craftsmanship and the smarts behind all their toys. Even their dress up clothes and doll furniture are a notch above the rest, and I already have puzzles and presents picked out for the coming years. 🙂
