Cynthia Rowley Dress Up Band-Aids

August 27, 2010

These limited edition Band-Aids come in two different tins and cost $10 for 20 bandages of assorted styles. $1 from each purchase benefits Design Ignites Change, a program that enlists high school and college students in design and architecture projects benefitting their communities. I would buy them for the tin alone. Available at Cynthia Rowley’s website.

Creative Debate: Girl Scouts Identity Update

August 18, 2010

It’s been awhile since we’ve done one of these, so I thought I’d give it a whirl. What do you think about the redesign of the Girl Scout logo and it’s identity update?

Here’s the scoop:

Objective: To better engage girls with a more relevant programming and activities

What they did:

  1. Added more stylish, youthful bangs and more realistic, perky noses
  2. Used lowercase font to make the words more approachable
  3. Logo placement to right and slightly above the words is meant to “proudly lead the way like the prow of the ship,” according to designers Jennifer Kinon and Bobby Martin

The green looks brighter and more livelier to me, although I can’t be 100% certain it’s new.

Read a full article about the redesign here. And don’t forget to drop off a comment or two.

Draw a Doll

August 18, 2010

I spied these curious dolls over on Swiss Miss, and I had to share them with you here because they just stole my heart. These dolls were created from children’s drawings. How super cute and wonderful is that? So wonderful that they scored some highfalutin design awards. Here are some more pics and you can read all about them here.

Living in 100 square feet

August 16, 2010

I was very impressed when I saw this video from Tumbleweed Houses. According to the website, this company has received a lot of media coverage, but I managed to miss it.

Check out this video of Jay Shafer giving a tour of his Tiny House. I know I would feel like a giant in this house!

Then I got a flashback to this commercial that made me laugh and laugh… That was in the days before DVR…

Renegade Craft Fair

August 11, 2010

I had so much fun attending the Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco last weekend. It was a little more Farmer’s Market than Deep Fried, but you all would have loved it! There was huge Etsy presence, free craft area for kids and adults, vendors from all over and even a few QR codes. Check out my pics and the link for a full recap:

Mad Men Illustrated

August 4, 2010

I stumbled across Dyna Moe’s “Mad Men Illustrated” Flikr stream right as the third season was ending. I’ve been biding my time until the next season started so I could share it with all of you!  And then I forgot… but only for a week! So here is the link as well as some of my favorites posted below. Enjoy!

There’s lots more to be seen (and iPhone wallpapers to be had!)
